In 1973, when computers were still in their infancy, Dr. Soskolne recognized their potential for enhancing research capacity and reducing administrative burdens. His integrated cardio-respiratory pathology information system (PATHAUT) continues to provide useful information in the international public health interest to this day, impacting the occupational health of underground miners in particular.


Colin was awarded the South African Council for Automation and Computation "Best Paper" prize at its 1975 Symposium on Computers and Automation in the Medical Sciences for his related work.
